About the Position

Senior Actuarial Analyst

• Location: 100% Remote or Portland, OR.
• Candidates may reside in the United States EXCEPT: Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania
• Employment Type: Full-time
• Base Salary: $81,000 to $129,000 USD

We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst, Valuation who will:

• Dive into historical data and claim patterns to estimate Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves for different insurance lines.
• Build and maintain actuarial models to accurately estimate IBNR reserves while ensuring we comply with regulations.
• Keep an eye on industry trends and best practices for IBNR estimation and work on enhancements to make our estimates more accurate and efficient.
• Stay updated on emerging trends in claims, legal environment, and medical advancements to provide valuable insights on their potential impact on IBNR reserves.
• Work closely with auditors, regulators, and rating agencies to ensure transparency and compliance in reporting IBNR reserves.

Responsibilities

• Estimate Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves for different insurance lines.
• Build and maintain actuarial models.
• Monitor industry trends and best practices.
• Provide insights on emerging trends in claims, legal environment, and medical advancements.
• Ensure transparency and compliance in reporting IBNR reserves.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial, Finance, or another related field of study.
• Successful completion of exam(s) for the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
• 2+ years of actuarial experience.
• Experience with writing queries in SQL or another programming language.
• Demonstrated experience applying project management skills in data-related and financial analysis projects.

Nice to Have

• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
• 5+ years of healthcare actuarial experience.
• Fellow or Associate in the Society of Actuaries (FSA or ASA).
• 2+ years of valuation experience.
• 2+ years of commercial pricing experience.

We Offer

• Competitive base salary ranging from $81,000 to $129,000 USD.
• Full-time remote position.
