Data Center Server Operations Manager, Google Cloud

About the Job

As part of the Technical Infrastructure team, you will operate with an engineering-first mindset, serving as “our engineers' engineers.” You will improve systems by taking them apart and rebuilding them better, from initial data center development through engineering next-generation platforms. The team keeps networks running and secure, maximizes hardware efficiency, and ensures seamless system performance for a fast, reliable online experience.

Responsibilities

Manage round-the-clock operations across all shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, within the metro area.
Oversee hiring, coaching, talent development, and vendor management for technical teams.
Lead the deployment, maintenance, and support of systems and network architectures.
Use Linux/Unix, network protocol, and hardware life-cycle expertise to resolve complex strategic challenges.
Execute global strategic projects aligned with company goals while driving strict Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management, and service delivery.
8 years of experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure; network and compute architecture and life-cycle; and Linux/Unix system administration.
Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
Experience leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
Exceptional data gathering and presentation skills.
