About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Database Architect with expertise in Oracle, MySQL, and AWS RDS to design and optimize our enterprise data platform.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise data architecture: conceptual, logical, and physical data models, standards, and reference patterns.
- Design and optimize relational database solutions on Oracle, MySQL, and AWS RDS (including Aurora) for performance, scalability, and cost.
- Lead database migration and modernization initiatives - on-premises to cloud (lift-and-shift and re-platforming), version upgrades, and heterogeneous migrations between engines.
- Establish data governance, security, and compliance controls: access management, encryption, masking, retention, and auditability.
- Define high-availability, backup/restore, and disaster-recovery strategies (replication, read replicas, Multi-AZ, failover).
- Drive performance tuning - query optimization, indexing strategy, partitioning, capacity planning, and cost optimization in AWS.
- Set standards for data integration / ETL / ELT and collaborate with engineering, analytics, and application teams.
- Provide architectural governance: design reviews, documentation, and technical mentorship to developers and DBAs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Architect / Senior DBA designing enterprise relational data solutions.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle (database design, PL/SQL, performance tuning, RAC/Data Guard concepts).
- Strong hands-on expertise with MySQL (schema design, optimization, replication).
- Solid experience with AWS RDS (provisioning, Multi-AZ, read replicas, parameter/option groups; Aurora a plus).
- Data modeling (3NF and dimensional) and SQL performance tuning.
- Understanding of data security, governance, backup/recovery, and HA/DR principles.
- Experience with cloud migration of databases.
Nice to Have
- Other AWS data services (DMS, S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation).
- Additional engines (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) or NoSQL exposure.
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform / CloudFormation) and CI/CD for database changes.
- Scripting/automation (Python, Bash, Shell).
- Familiarity with data warehousing, streaming, or big-data ecosystems.
- Relevant certifications (AWS Database / Solutions Architect, Oracle OCP).
