Job Description

As a Database Engineer at Paga, you will be responsible for implementing high-quality functionality for well-defined functional or technical areas of our database systems. You will design, build, and maintain databases that serve millions of customers across Africa. You will work within an agile, functionally-aligned team across a broad range of technical platforms and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain databases that serve millions of customers.
• Optimize database performance and ensure high availability.
• Implement complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Participate in database design and architecture to support application development projects.
• Develop rational database tables and dictionary designs.
• Produce clean and well-organized, well-documented code.
• Automate repetitive database engineering tasks to improve productivity.
• Ensure testing and accuracy of query results and potential write operations.
• Understand and implement no-SQL data source paradigms.

Requirements

• A degree in a related discipline.
• 1 to 6 years of database programming experience.
• Excellent SQL programming skills.
• Strong knowledge and experience with database performance optimization.
• Working knowledge of database management concepts.
• Strong Microsoft SQL specific applied knowledge.
• PostgreSQL applied knowledge is a plus.
• MySQL specific applied knowledge is a plus.
