Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We're looking for a Java Developer to join our team in Lisbon, Portugal, in a hybrid working mode. You will work within the Client & Market team to develop and optimize backend solutions for omni-channel retail platforms, supporting luxury Maisons across e-commerce environments. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with scalable microservices and modern architectures while contributing to seamless digital and physical customer journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business and technical requirements to support backend solution design for omni-retail processes
  • Develop, test, and debug Java-based microservices under senior engineers’ guidance, ensuring maintainability and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and integration issues with mentorship support
  • Collaborate with the Support team to investigate incidents related to omni-retail and order management
  • Work with DevOps teams to understand CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews to enhance technical quality

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of Java development experience or strong academic foundation with demonstrable projects
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Data JPA, Hibernate); hands-on exposure is a plus
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web communication concepts (HTTP, JSON)
  • Exposure to or interest in microservices architecture and event-driven systems
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL; exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git
  • Interest in learning tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Good communication skills, strong collaboration mindset
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence
  • Interest in e-commerce, retail, or luxury brand ecosystems
