Lead Database Engineer at IFG

The IFG team is comprised of like-minded engineers opening up the boundaries to build the next generation DSCF platform. We are looking for super forward-thinking engineers who are passionate about questioning the limitations and not settling for the status quo.

An engineer in the database platform team has knowledge and ideas on how to develop innovative solutions smartly. The platform is being built by a team that has the culture and the environment technologists find at a startup. We would like to add outstanding software engineers with strong development experience in building scalable and geo-distributed solutions.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities will be essential for success, as is attention to quality. You will have a big impact on the product and are expected to participate in the entire life cycle, ranging from architecture through testing and production rollout.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team of energetic engineers building a next-gen platform using the latest open source technologies
• Lead a team of passionate engineers from inception to the completion of the features, going from brainstorming sessions to converging on a design and ultimately building a production-ready product usable by end customers
• Design and implement differentiated production-ready features in a fast-paced environment with focus on scalability, performance, geo distribution, and availability
• Rollout features at the pace of business changes and requirements, iterating to improve the quality and the robustness
• Passion to bring out innovative ideas and try out new solutions, while being open-minded to feedback from the team
• Relentless focus on quality and automation, and provide support to customers of the platform

Requirements

• Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems management with a minimum of 3-5 years related work experience
• Should be self-motivated and able to work autonomously
• Knowledge and experience in systems analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of web-based applications
• 3 to 5 years of experience managing large-scale database systems and/or hybrid environments would be a plus
• Relational database and database administration knowledge required
• Experience and knowledge of cloud-based applications would be a plus
• Knowledgeable in multiple operating systems
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Must be a team player with the ability to work well with others, while also having a strong self-directed style and the ability to handle multiple tracks at the same time
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and users
