Legal Counsel

About the Position

COFCO International is a global agri-business with a clear vision, strong values, and a positive culture, focused on being a leader in the global grains, oilseeds, and sugar supply chains. We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our team in Beijing, China. The role involves participating in trade and non-trade contract drafting, dispute resolution, and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the drafting and review of trade and non-trade contracts.
• Participate in dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration.
• Participate in compliance matters such as trade sanctions, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and derivatives regulation.
• Participate in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and equity disposals.
• Participate in corporate legal matters such as company charters, resolutions, minutes, and registration changes.
• Interface with global legal and compliance teams and draft various reports and communications for the group and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct legal research and present at global legal conferences.

Requirements

• Master's degree or higher. A bachelor's degree in law from a foreign institution requires a JD or JSD degree.
• Legal professional qualification (or passed foreign bar exam).
• Strong oral and written communication skills, rigorous thinking, clear logic, and the ability to grasp the essence of issues.
• Ability to use English as the primary language for daily work communication, with proficiency in both spoken and written English. Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian is preferred.
