Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Harness

Job Summary:

As a Manager of Production Engineering, you will inspire, develop, coordinate, support, and lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers supporting manufacturing. You will be responsible for leveraging design for manufacturability and continuous improvement to deliver space-grade structures, propulsion hardware, and electrical components at a high rate and low cost, without ever compromising personnel safety or product reliability. You will serve as the advocate for your team and the technical subject matter expert between production and design engineering to ensure that both have the resources they need to succeed. You will develop and sustain a vision for growth and development of both the members of your team and the capabilities of the manufacturing areas. A successful candidate for this role will demonstrate integrity, intellectual curiosity, empathy, technical capability, and a strong motivation to support production.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees
  • Work closely with Manufacturing teams to develop solutions so the floor can build and assemble products

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large-scale cross-functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”
  • 3+ years of experience in wire harness design, wire harness installation, or equipment installation
  • The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A final U.S. clearance Post Start is required

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
