About the Position

We are seeking two experienced Project Management Leaders to join the Super Hornet and Growler Sustainment Program in Amberley, Queensland. This role is pivotal in delivering outcomes that support operational capability, continuous improvement, and program success.

Responsibilities

As the Sustainment Projects Manager:

  • Accountable for all sustainment system and technical change projects supporting the Super Hornet and Growler Sustainment Program.
  • Lead and supervise a team of project management professionals.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, United States Government agencies, and Defence Industry.
  • Ensure assigned project management staff successfully deliver a range of sustainment-related technical and systems projects.
  • Communicate project status clearly and promptly to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for delivering projects to agreed cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Contribute directly to organizational growth and improvement as a Change Team Leader and member of the Program Extended Leadership Team.

As the Change Shared Services Manager:

  • Accountable for all Program-level PMO functions, including Change Boards, staff training and development, professionalisation, project scheduling, project logistics support, and ECP management.
  • Lead and supervise a team of project management professionals.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, United States Government agencies, and Defence Industry.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of internal Program PMO functions, including the execution of Program Change Boards.
  • Deliver high-quality shared project management services, including scheduling and project logistics.
  • Monitor compliance with Program PMO processes and drive process optimization.
  • Coordinate the on-time delivery of Change Team contract deliverables.
  • Oversee professionalisation, training, and development of project management staff across the Program, including ownership of the PM Continuous Training Plan.
  • Responsible for delivering projects to agreed cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Contribute directly to organizational growth and improvement as a Change Team Leader and member of the Program Extended Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects to successful and timely completion.
  • Proven leadership capability, including customer liaison and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • A tertiary qualification in a business-related field (e.g., Project Management, Logistics, Finance, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role within a complex program.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • An aspirational leadership style with a genuine commitment to people and team development.
  • Understanding of matrix-based organizations, with the ability to work effectively within them.
  • Proven ability to develop practical, innovative, and well-considered solutions aligned to organizational objectives.
  • A demonstrated commitment to change and continuous improvement.
  • A lifelong learning mindset and commitment to personal growth and development.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements and must be willing to undergo the standard government vetting process, including a full life background check. BDA will sponsor and support the required clearance process.
