We are seeking a Senior/Lead Python Engineer specializing in the development and maintenance of high-performance, scalable applications within a global banking technology environment. This role focuses on enhancing VAT recovery, improving regulatory reporting, and implementing AI-driven solutions, delivering tangible savings and ensuring compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize Python-based applications with clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Work with large SQL databases to design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity.
• Manage and deploy applications in Linux environments, including scripting and automation.
• Utilize GIT for version control, including branching, merging, and code reviews.
• Work within Agile workflows to manage tasks, sprints, and project tracking.
• Develop and maintain job scheduling workflows using Autosys.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and system issues.
• Mentor junior developers and lead the adoption of coding best practices and emerging technologies.
• Analyze data to support reporting, analytics, and system improvements.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in Python development with expertise in OOP and software design principles.
• Strong SQL skills for complex queries and database optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments (bash scripting and deployment).
• Experience with Autosys for job scheduling.
• Proficiency in GIT, including branching strategies, code versioning, and pull requests.
• Experience with Agile project management tools, preferably JIRA.
• Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Unit Testing (PyTest).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead technical teams effectively.
• Prior experience in a banking or financial services context.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Familiarity with React.js and TypeScript.
