Job description

About the Position

Quest Designer, Senior

Room 8 Group is an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Working across all platforms, we provide creative and technical expertise across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA for AAA and AA games.

Our Game Development team provides comprehensive co-development and full-cycle development solutions across all platforms. We’ve helped make some of the biggest games of the past decade, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and III, and we work with dozens of the world’s biggest publishers and developers.

Through primarily organic growth, we are proudly independent, now home to around 1,100 creatives based in Europe, North America, and South America.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quest Designer, you will take ownership of designing, building, and shipping complete quest lines for a co-operative survival action-RPG built on strong life-simulation and base-building foundations. You will own quests end to end, from premise and spatial structure through blockout and in-engine scripting to final tuning, populating entire regions of a shared high-fantasy world with content that holds up whether players approach it alone or as a group.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience in Level Design, with a substantial part of that time spent designing quest or mission on PC or console titles.
  • At least one shipped title with responsibility for level layouts and the quest or mission content built inside them.
  • Strong level-building craft - blockouts, layout iteration, navigation, and readability - plus the judgement to know when a quest needs its space reshaped.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, layout and blockout tools, Blueprint scripting, and data-driven gameplay implementation.
  • Proven ability to design quest lines that marry narrative intent with the game’s systemic gameplay.
  • Strong understanding of objective readability, player guidance, quest pacing, and reward structure.
  • Experience designing content for co-operative play, multiple players, drop-in/drop-out sessions, and shared progression.
  • Comfortable working to another studio’s design intent and quality bar, and turning review notes into concrete improvements.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Able to work autonomously against agreed briefs and milestones within a distributed co-development setup.

Nice to Have

  • Experience on survival, life-simulation, base-building, or crafting-driven games.
  • Familiarity with high-fantasy settings, and comfort designing within guides.
  • Experience with quest content in shared, multiplayer worlds.
  • Background in scripting emergent moments, dynamic world events, or repeatable systemic content.
  • Experience with cinematic moment integration, ambient storytelling, and visual scripting.
  • Deep understanding of content progression across difficulty curves and player power scaling.
  • Comfort reviewing legacy content and making editorial-level decisions about pacing and value.

We Offer

  • Competitive financial reward (yes, we are fair enough);
  • Challenges to raise your XPs score working on the projects of the top global game dev publishers;
  • Private medical care, paid time off;
  • A culture of diversity and inclusion to unite the most outstanding talents;
  • Community of people who understand and share your passion for games.
