About the Position

SAP Release Management

This hybrid role is for a Technology Architect with extensive experience in SAP release strategies and release management supporting production planning and control in industrial manufacturing and environment health and safety processes. The architect will design reliable release frameworks, safeguard operational continuity, and enable safe, efficient day operations across global business functions while aligning technology outcomes with strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end SAP release strategies that align with enterprise standards and enable predictable deployment cycles for day operations across hybrid work environments while ensuring minimal disruption to business stakeholders in production planning and control functions.
• Oversee coordinated release management activities across SAP landscapes by defining clear checkpoints, dependency maps, and rollback approaches that protect critical manufacturing and environment health and safety processes from unintended impact.
• Provide detailed technical guidance on release sequencing, transport routes, and configuration promotion to ensure consistent behavior of SAP systems used in production planning, scheduling, and shop floor control activities.
• Drive continuous improvement in SAP release governance by analyzing post-release performance and incident trends and by refining approval workflows so that manufacturing and EHS teams experience greater system stability and shorter recovery times.
• Develop standardized release playbooks and operational runbooks describing the steps, communication plans, and validation tasks required for each type of SAP change so implementation teams can execute repeatable and auditable releases in a hybrid work model.
• Monitor production and preproduction SAP environments during release windows using agreed metrics and alerts and coordinate quick remediation for defects to safeguard plant scheduling, inventory accuracy, and worker safety-related transactions.
• Collaborate with production planning, industrial manufacturing, and EHS subject matter experts to translate operational constraints, regulatory considerations, and safety requirements into release policies that respect blackout periods and critical reporting timelines.
• Optimize transport and version management practices within SAP by defining object bundling rules, testing expectations, and cutover checkpoints that help reduce rework and improve the reliability of changes deployed to manufacturing execution and safety monitoring modules.
• Coordinate with cross-functional technology teams to align SAP release calendars with upstream and downstream applications ensuring that integrated workflows for materials planning, resource allocation, and incident logging remain fully functional after each deployment.
• Document all release management procedures, configuration baselines, and environment dependencies in a structured repository so future changes can be planned with a clear understanding of impacts on industrial manufacturing and EHS business processes.
• Guide testing and validation strategies for SAP releases by advocating for realistic scenarios involving production planners, plant operators, and safety coordinators so that newly deployed changes are verified against practical day-to-day usage patterns.
• Support audit and compliance activities by maintaining accurate release records, approvals, and change histories that demonstrate proper control over systems used to manage manufacturing operations and environment health and safety obligations.
• Champion adoption of safer and more sustainable technology practices by ensuring that SAP release decisions consider long-term reliability, resource efficiency, and risk reduction for industrial workers and surrounding communities.

Requirements

• Demonstrate strong expertise in SAP release strategies and release management including practical experience designing and operating structured release cycles for complex enterprise SAP environments supporting manufacturing and EHS functions.
• Exhibit deep domain knowledge in production planning and control for industrial manufacturing with hands-on experience collaborating with plant operations teams to understand capacity constraints, scheduling rules, and material flow considerations.
• Apply solid understanding of environment health and safety processes and regulatory expectations using this knowledge to shape release windows, risk assessments, and validation steps so safety-related workflows remain uninterrupted and trustworthy.
• Possess proficiency in hybrid work practices including remote coordination with technical and business stakeholders and effective use of collaboration tools to manage planning, reviews, and approvals without compromising release quality.
• Show capability in structured problem solving, risk analysis, and issue management allowing timely resolution of defects discovered during or after releases while maintaining stable support for manufacturing and EHS operations.
• Demonstrate strong communication and documentation skills for explaining complex SAP release concepts to both technical specialists and business users and for capturing clear procedures and decision logs that facilitate future improvements.
• Display familiarity with modern change and release frameworks such as automated testing practices, structured change advisory processes, and integrated monitoring which enhance reliability and transparency in SAP environments.
