Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and performance testing of substation equipment to verify compliance with design and operational requirements.
- Lead and mentor junior technologists during on-site commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and technical deficiencies.
- Perform detailed test result analyses, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
- Coordinate activities with project management, engineering, and client teams to achieve smooth commissioning operations.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and isolation protocols.
- Participate in pre-job safety meetings and field-level risk assessments.
- Provide continuous feedback and recommendations to enhance commissioning quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-voltage substation commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Solid knowledge of power system theory, substation protection, and control systems.
- Experience in brownfield substation environments is an advantage.
- Familiarity with electrical testing tools (e.g., Omicron, Doble, Megger, power analyzers, multimeters).
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, control schematics, and SCADA drawings.
- Competence in using software and relay interfaces (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and under time-sensitive circumstances.
Nice to Have
- Experience with high voltage splicing and electrical technology troubleshooting.
