Join us as a Senior ConOps & Architecture Engineer for our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in Seal Beach, CA, with potential options to work from El Segundo, CA, Aurora, CO, or Herndon, VA based on candidate eligibility.
As a member of our Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Mission Design team, you will contribute to the development of new first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. The ESG portfolio includes platforms and technologies such as the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, currently on its eighth mission.
Responsibilities
- Support technology integration and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions
- Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership
- Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere
- Lead and drive complex system trade studies to closure
- Ensure proper system architecture is in place to support mission objectives
- Lead functional analysis and decomposition for mission activities
- Coordinate with diverse stakeholders to resolve cross-segment issues
- Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to capture the system architecture and operational concept
Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- 5 years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test
- 5 years of direct experience with Satellite Systems Engineering groups
- 10 years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and/or software engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
- 10 years of systems engineering experience
- 5 years of project management experience
- Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
- Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned systems
- Experience with spacecraft mission operations
- Experience with applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to space programs
- Broad knowledge across spacecraft subsystems
- Experience with spacecraft ground development
