About the Position

EPAM is seeking a skilled Senior Java Backend Developer who is passionate about building scalable, high-performance backend services and enjoys working on products used daily by thousands of professionals. You will join a collaborative, agile team developing and enhancing a flagship mobile platform and supporting backend services for a leading global property data and analytics company operating in the real estate technology (PropTech) domain. The client delivers data-driven solutions that power the real estate industry across North America, providing critical tools and insights to agents, brokers, and MLS organisations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs supporting mobile and web applications
  • Develop secure, reliable, and high-performance microservices
  • Design and optimize database models and data access layers
  • Integrate with third-party platforms and external APIs
  • Collaborate with mobile developers, frontend engineers, product managers, QA engineers, and architects to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Participate in system design, code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted software development practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
  • Solid understanding of REST API design and microservices architecture
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
  • Experience with JPA/Hibernate or similar persistence frameworks
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering principles, design patterns, and clean code practices
  • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Availability to work shifted hours (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Polish time) to align with the North American-based team
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Experience with OAuth2, SSO, JWT, or other authentication mechanisms
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Gemini
  • Experience working with high-traffic, customer-facing SaaS or mobile backend platforms
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs and enterprise systems
  • Background or interest in the real estate / PropTech domain
