About the Position

Senior Software Engineer (Java, React, AWS)

Location: Nottingham, UK

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days office and 2 days WFH)

Responsibilities

As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you will:

Design and deliver robust, scalable web applications and microservices-based solutions.
Collaborate with developers, architects, graphic designers, and stakeholders to design, launch, and improve digital products.
Develop and implement project tasks and components, ensuring zero-defect code and comprehensive unit test cases.
Design the overall architecture of web applications, applying microservices principles and design patterns.
Develop and maintain business layer coding, interface development, service development, and stored procedures.
Write and execute unit test cases, capture and resolve defects, and support integration and automation testing.
Understand, interpret, and clarify functional and technical requirements, providing effort and timeline estimates.
Identify and highlight potential risks, support component integration, maintain traceability matrices, and adhere to SCM policies.
Collaborate with graphic designers to convert designs into visual elements and contribute to security and data protection measures.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of knowledge assets and provide ideas for process optimization.
Improve core technical skills, keeping pace with evolving technology landscapes.

Requirements

Extensive hands-on experience with Core Java / Java 8 and Spring Boot.
Good experience with React JS and front-end technologies.
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
Strong knowledge of Microservices architecture and established design patterns.
Strong understanding of API design and security.
Good experience with database technologies and API integration.
Good working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and observability practices.
Good understanding of SRE principles and Agile delivery methodologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good experience with testing practices.
A relevant graduate degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

Good experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
Fair knowledge of Apache Kafka for building event-driven, distributed systems.
Familiarity with Gen AI tools such as Claude.
