About the Position
Our client is seeking a remote Senior Tax Manager to lead complex tax advisory, planning, and compliance engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This leadership role offers the opportunity to mentor a team, build strong client relationships, and help drive the continued growth of a well-established CPA and advisory firm.
The Senior Tax Manager serves as a key leader within the tax department, supporting operational excellence, staff development, and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements while delivering high-quality client service and driving team performance
- Serve as a technical resource on complex federal, state, and specialty tax matters, including review of individual, corporate, partnership, trust, gift, and estate returns
- Prepare and review advanced tax planning strategies, projections, and research, translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Apply tax laws, regulatory requirements, and professional standards to develop practical, compliant solutions while identifying risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with firm leadership to resolve complex issues and improve processes, workflows, and efficiencies
- Manage and grow strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact
- Oversee engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and profitability
- Communicate complex tax matters clearly to clients, internal teams, and taxing authorities
- Respond to audits, inquiries, and notices, representing clients as appropriate
- Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and provide proactive, value-added insights
- Lead multiple engagements simultaneously, managing scope, budgets, timelines, and deliverables
- Monitor realization, utilization, and workflow to support operational effectiveness
- Identify engagement risks and escalate issues as needed
- Support consistency and efficiency in tax department processes, policies, and procedures
- Contribute to training initiatives and promote continuous learning across the team
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships
- Support proposals, client pursuits, and growth strategies in collaboration with firm leadership
- Build market and industry knowledge to identify advisory opportunities
- Participate in networking, marketing, and relationship-building efforts
- Contribute to new service offerings and enhancement of existing services
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members through feedback, guidance, and support
- Review work to ensure accuracy and quality while supporting professional development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 8+ years of public accounting experience
- 3–5 years of relevant supervisory or management experience
- Active CPA license required
- Strong experience in tax compliance, planning, and research across multiple entity types
- Experience with tax research tools (RIA or similar) required
- Experience with CS Suite, UltraTax, and complex entity structures preferred
- Gift, estate, trust, and partnership tax experience is a plus
- Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and client-service skills
- Collaborative, proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and staff development

Salary
$110,000 - $150,000 salary based upon experience
