About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our QEA Team in Toronto, Canada. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Java-Selenium and API automation testing. This role involves leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, and driving continuous improvement in our automation strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Drive the design and implementation of scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java, TestNG, and Selenium/Playwright.
Design, develop, and execute API automation scripts using Rest Assured.
Ensure comprehensive test coverage for both frontend (UI) and backend (API, database) components.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Ensure timely delivery of automation test coverage as part of Agile sprints.
Apply your understanding of Generative AI platforms to test AI-driven features or utilize AI tools to optimize the testing lifecycle.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.

Requirements

Overall 8-12 years of experience as an SDET or in a similar automation testing role.
Expert in designing and building automated testing frameworks using Behavior Driven Development and Test-Driven development tools like Cucumber, Selenium, Playwright.
Must have 2+ years of experience in API Automation Test using Rest Assured.
Strong knowledge of Database Testing, SQL, and MySQL.
Ability to work independently and contribute to the team with minimum supervision.
Knowledge of CI/CD integration tools and practices.
Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.

Nice to Have

Experience in Playwright automation.
GitHub Copilot experience is highly preferred.

We Offer

Total compensation:

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 70,000 – 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.

Working arrangements

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a Cognizant or client office in Toronto, ON.
