Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Architect to design and optimize advanced data platforms using Snowflake Cortex, Snowflake SQL, and Snowpipe. This role focuses on driving secure, scalable analytics solutions for global stakeholders, ensuring robust data governance and enabling impactful insights that support enterprise decision-making. This position requires a day shift schedule with no travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of end-to-end cloud data platform architectures optimized for Snowflake Cortex capabilities to support complex analytics workloads and high-performance data processing for global business functions.
  • Oversee the definition of scalable data models and schemas using Snowflake SQL to enable consistent reporting, self-service analytics, and advanced data science while maintaining strong data governance and quality.
  • Provide architectural guidance on secure and efficient ingestion pipelines using Snowpipe to ensure near real-time data availability for critical business processes and regulatory reporting.
  • Drive standardization of data engineering patterns on Snowflake by defining architecture blueprints, reference implementations, and reusable components that improve delivery speed and reliability across teams.
  • Coordinate closely with enterprise architects, security teams, and business stakeholders to align Snowflake-based solutions with long-term technology roadmaps, compliance requirements, and strategic priorities.
  • Guide performance optimization efforts for large-scale Snowflake workloads including query tuning, resource configuration, and storage strategies to control cost while improving responsiveness.
  • Shape the overall data integration strategy by recommending best practices for batch and streaming ingestion into Snowflake ensuring resilience, observability, and proactive incident prevention.
  • Direct evaluation of new Snowflake Cortex features and related ecosystem tools to determine applicability, create adoption guidelines, and design pilot implementations that prove business value.
  • Influence data governance frameworks by defining standards for data lineage, access policies, retention rules, and audit readiness within the Snowflake environment to protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with product managers and analytics leaders to translate business initiatives into Snowflake architecture roadmaps ensuring that data solutions enable measurable outcomes for customers and society.
  • Mentor senior engineers and data architects by reviewing solution designs, providing architectural feedback, and promoting disciplined design practices that reduce technical debt and operational risk.
  • Coordinate architecture reviews across programs ensuring consistent application of Snowflake best practices, integration patterns, and reliability principles across hybrid working teams.
  • Guide incident and problem management related to Snowflake platforms by advising on root cause analysis, architectural remediations, and preventive controls to strengthen long-term stability.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing enterprise data architectures leveraging Snowflake Cortex capabilities for advanced analytics and machine learning in complex multinational environments.
  • Deep proficiency in Snowflake SQL including query design, optimization, data modeling, and implementation of secure role-based access structures for large-scale data platforms.
  • Strong hands-on background with Snowpipe configuration and operation covering automated ingestion patterns, error handling, monitoring, and alignment to data latency requirements.
  • Proven track record of delivering hybrid data solutions that span cloud and on-premises systems with robust integration patterns and clear segregation of responsibilities across components.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance practices to Snowflake designs ensuring alignment with corporate policies and regional regulatory obligations.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, operations, security, and business teams to convert strategic goals into actionable architecture decisions.
  • Capability to mentor senior technical professionals by sharing architectural principles, promoting continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of high accountability in solution delivery.

Salary and Other Compensation

  • Annual Salary: $170K+ depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
  • Incentive Program: Eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
