C++ Software Engineer

Join our Software Engineering and Systems Integration team in the UK, actively working across Boeing Defence, Commercial Airplanes, Global Services, and Uncrewed technologies.

Responsibilities

• Supports the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, visualizations, virtual environments/platforms, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Supports partnership with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated.
• Supports designing, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.
• Proficiency in C++, Lua Scripting, or similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with Physics-based Modelling and Simulation system Engineering principles.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, BitBucket).
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Automation, and CICD concepts.
• Understanding of testing frameworks and unit testing practices.
• Experience working as a Software Simulation Engineer or similar role.
• Experience across Software Development Lifecycle and Software standards such as ISO9001.
• Understanding of the distributed interoperability simulation protocols used within defense collective training (e.g., DIS and HLA).
• Understanding and experience of the COTS simulation and training environment development, execution, verification, validation, and deployments.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles.
