About the Role

As a Java Technical Lead, you will make an impact by leading production support, application maintenance, and operational excellence initiatives for critical enterprise applications. You will be a valued member of the Application Support team and work collaboratively with development, infrastructure, business stakeholders, and cross-functional technology teams to ensure application stability, performance, and continuous improvement.

In This Role, You Will:

• Lead application maintenance and production support activities for business-critical applications.
• Drive incident, problem, and change management processes while ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
• Monitor application health, performance, availability, and reliability across supported environments.
• Lead production releases and deployment activities, ensuring smooth transitions into production.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to resolve complex technical challenges and support enhancements.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership, guidance, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with SLA, KPI, and operational excellence standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in application production support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Angular, and SQL.
• Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting Java-based applications in production environments.
• Experience working with Microsoft Service Bus (MSB) and enterprise integration technologies.
• Strong experience in incident management, problem management, change management, and monitoring tools.
• Experience performing SQL analysis, database troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and application support best practices.
• Experience leading production releases, deployments, and operational support activities.
• Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor support engineers and provide technical direction to teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python scripting and automation.
• Experience supporting distributed and microservices-based architectures.
• Knowledge of application monitoring, observability, and performance tuning tools.
• Experience driving continuous service improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We Offer

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until August 28th, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between CAD $80,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
