About the Position
Studio Animations Programmer – Dynamic Lighting Specialist
About the Role
As a ChamSys Programmer, you will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining dynamic lighting systems using ChamSys MagicQ consoles and software. You’ll work closely with lighting designers, game producers, and virtual event teams to deliver interactive, responsive lighting environments that elevate both the visual storytelling and the user experience.
Responsibilities
- Program and operate ChamSys MagicQ lighting consoles for in-game events, livestreams, esports productions, and immersive virtual spaces.
- Develop dynamic lighting sequences that respond to real-time game data or scripted events.
- Collaborate with creative directors, game developers, and AV techs to integrate lighting into digital worlds and hybrid productions.
- Translate lighting design concepts into executable ChamSys cue stacks, timelines, and pixel maps.
- Troubleshoot and maintain lighting equipment, including intelligent and pixel-based fixtures.
- Optimize lighting performance for real-time rendering and video broadcast compatibility.
- Participate in pre-production planning, tech rehearsals, and post-event reviews.
- Maintain documentation for lighting setups, patch sheets, and cue structures.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience programming and operating lighting consoles (preferably ChamSys MagicQ) in live events, studio, broadcast, or virtual production environments.
- Proven experience working with DMX, Art-Net, and sACN lighting networks, as well as intelligent and pixel-based fixtures (e.g., moving heads, LED walls, lighting grids).
- Strong expertise in building and operating complex cue stacks, timelines, and pixel mapping setups, including reactive lighting synchronized with real-time data such as game events, scores, or audio/video signals.
- Solid understanding of studio and streaming production workflows, including camera exposure, color balance, latency, and signal flow, ensuring lighting is optimized for broadcast.
- Ability to troubleshoot under pressure during live productions (console programming, fixture patching, networking issues, and show file management).
- Experience preparing and maintaining technical documentation, such as patch sheets, cue lists, network diagrams, and operational templates.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with creative teams, game developers, AV specialists, and production teams in fast-paced environments such as iGaming, esports, or live broadcast.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends during live events when required.
We Offer
- Be part of a cutting-edge company redefining how lighting enhances digital entertainment.
- Work with an innovative, collaborative team of creators and technologists.
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- Opportunities for growth and experimentation with emerging tech.
