Workplace Lead Engineer

About the Position

As a Workplace Lead Engineer at Claranet, you will combine in-depth Microsoft 365 knowledge with architecture and hands-on engineering. The focus for Microsoft 365 is on advisory projects and improving existing client environments. You will analyze the current setup, identify improvement opportunities, and translate client needs into well-founded advice, coherent workplace concepts, and concrete improvement plans. You will take the technical lead in the implementation of improvements and be the content point of contact for clients, sales, and fellow engineers.

In addition, you will contribute to our managed workplace service offerings. You will oversee the coherence between Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint management, security, and daily management. You will translate technological developments into practical improvements, reusable standards, and scalable solutions for clients and colleagues. You will work closely with international Claranet colleagues to learn from each other and exchange expertise. For international commercial projects, you will join forces where relevant to translate client needs into appropriate technical solutions and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Advising and winning clients together with sales You will play an active pre-sales role for Modern Workplaces and Microsoft 365. Together with sales, you will map out client needs, translate them into suitable solutions, and present compelling proposals. With your technical expertise and advice, you will help turn commercial opportunities into new clients and contracts.
• Designing and improving modern workplaces for clients You will combine conceptual thinking with hands-on engineering and take the technical lead in improvement projects in existing Microsoft 365 and workplace environments, with an eye for setup, security, manageability, and user experience.
• Developing the managed workplace proposition You will work with Claranet colleagues from other countries to continuously improve our managed workplace proposition and take responsibility for the Dutch part. You will build scalable architecture, reusable standards, and automation, with an eye for security, user experience, and optimal management and support.
• Providing technical leadership and stimulating growth You will provide content guidance to fellow engineers, review designs and implementations, and be the technical point of contact for complex issues. You will actively share your knowledge and encourage ownership, initiative, and an entrepreneurial attitude within the team. You will recognize opportunities for innovation and improvement and, together with colleagues, translate these into concrete results that contribute to the development of the team and the growth of our workplace services.

Requirements

• An HBO degree in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, ICT Management, or a similar field.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, for example, as a Microsoft 365 Engineer, Modern Workplace Consultant, Senior Workplace Engineer, or Technical Lead with at least Microsoft certifications such as MD-102, MS-102, and SC-300.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Windows Autopilot, Entra ID, and Defender, and an understanding of the coherence between these components.
• Knowledge of workplace architecture, identity, Conditional Access, endpoint security, and governance. Experience with PowerShell, NinjaOne, Microsoft Graph is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with IT architecture such as TOGAF.
• Strong analytical and conceptual abilities: you oversee the whole, understand dependencies, and translate complex issues into coherent, practical solutions.
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain architectural choices and technical considerations to clients, engineers, and management.
• Client-oriented, proactive, independent, and able to build and maintain strong relationships.
• A commercial mindset and the ability to translate client needs into concrete solutions and services.
• Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
• In possession of a driver's license B.
