We are seeking an AWS Data Movement Engineer with strong hands-on experience in file and object storage technologies to join our team in Prague, Czech Republic or remotely.

Role Description

As a Data Movement Engineer, you will be proficient in SMB and NFS protocols and have practical experience interacting with storage solutions in AWS, including Amazon S3. This role will design, implement, and support storage movement services that are secure, scalable, and highly available for our applications and users.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and highly available storage movement services.
  • Manage and configure SMB (CIFS) on enterprise storage or file servers.
  • Manage and configure NFS in Linux/UNIX environments.
  • Work with Amazon S3, including buckets, versioning, lifecycle policies, encryption, and access control.
  • Understand IAM roles, policies, and security best practices.
  • Apply solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals as they relate to storage.
  • Perform performance tuning and troubleshoot storage-related issues.
  • Use scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Solve problems and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Storage Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar infrastructure role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • SMB (CIFS) configuration and management on enterprise storage or file servers.
    • NFS configuration and management in Linux/UNIX environments.
    • Amazon S3 (buckets, versioning, lifecycle policies, encryption, access control).
    • IAM roles, policies, and security best practices.
    • TCP/IP networking fundamentals as they relate to storage.
    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting storage-related issues.
    • Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with additional AWS storage services (EFS, FSx, EBS, Storage Gateway).
  • Experience with enterprise NAS platforms (e.g., NetApp, Dell/EMC, Isilon, Pure, etc.).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Experience in highly regulated or enterprise environments.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or storage vendor certifications).

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
