We are seeking a Data Engineer/Energy Trading Developer to work on a Proof of Concept for algorithmic gas trading in Germany. Remote work available.

Scope:
A Proof of Concept (PoC) to evaluate whether an existing execution tool, currently used for Forward Hedging, can also be leveraged for an algorithmic gas trading use case.
The PoC will focus on preparing and validating a Gas test environment within Short Term Trading, enabling an initial end-to-end setup. The trading logic and model development will be implemented in an algo platform, which will communicate with the execution tool client via a dedicated connection.
To enable this PoC, a Data Engineer is required to work closely with a Gas Trader to define, prepare, and implement the necessary data structures, interfaces, and technical prerequisites for the test case.
The objective of the PoC is to assess technical feasibility, integration effort, and potential reuse of execution tool for gas algorithm trading before considering broader rollout or productization.
Responsibilities
- Designing and building a scalable Algo Development Platform for short-term gas trading, enabling traders to independently develop, test short term marketing and iterate on trading strategies within a governed framework.
- Enabling dedicated API endpoints between the trading logic runners and the order execution platform.
- Managing the streaming service for market data, to consume live gas price data in short term gas.
- Enhancing the UI, to accommodate more strategies and services for short term gas use cases allowing for more customization, data streaming, and more use-cases i.e., frontend development.
- Developing and integrating Python and Java applications with Azure services, i.e. Azure Kubernetes Service, Postgres, Redis, Kafka to support scalable execution, data handling, and orchestration.
- Collaborating with architects and other team members to design and implement scalable, efficient, and secure software solutions. Ensuring code quality and adherence to software development best practices, including documentation, version control, and code reviews.
