Azure Data Architect

About the Position

Neklo is a software development company that provides full-cycle software engineering. We deliver innovative custom application development services, mobile app development services, high-load ecommerce solutions, as well as website testing and support to businesses and enterprises all over the globe.

We are looking for an Azure Data Architect with strong enterprise-level experience designing and modernizing Azure data platforms, including real production experience designing the data layer for GenAI/RAG/Agentic applications.

The role focuses on architecture ownership, unstructured data, scalable and metadata-driven ingestion, and implementation-ready architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and modernize Azure data platforms
• Architect data layers for GenAI/RAG/Agentic AI applications
• Ensure scalable, reusable, and metadata-driven ingestion
• Work with both structured and unstructured data
• Improve performance, scalability, maintainability, and data quality

Requirements

• Strong enterprise Azure Data Architecture experience with real production experience designing the data layer for GenAI/RAG/Agentic AI applications
• Azure Cosmos DB experience, including data modeling, partitioning, indexing, RU/throughput and cost optimization, scaling, consistency, and Change Feed
• Strong and current Azure Synapse Analytics experience, including Pipelines, Spark, Serverless SQL, Dedicated SQL Pools, and scalable/configuration-driven ingestion
• Experience designing how enterprise data and knowledge are ingested, prepared, stored, governed, and made available for retrieval and AI consumption
• Experience with both structured and genuinely unstructured data such as documents, PDFs, free text, scanned content, images, and emails
• Experience with metadata/configuration-driven and reusable ingestion architecture for databases, APIs, and file-based sources
• Ability to take ownership of an existing data platform, identify architectural issues, define tactical improvements, and a longer-term target architecture, and provide implementation-ready recommendations
• Ability to make technology decisions based on requirements, scale, cost, and existing architecture, rather than technology preference
• Ability to work independently, deal with incomplete information, and quickly turn analysis into actionable architecture
• Strong communication with technical teams and business stakeholders

• Data modeling, including fact tables, dimensional/star schemas, and analytical model optimization
• Batch processing, incremental processing, and incremental refresh
• Metadata/configuration-driven ingestion
• Scalable data-platform design

GenAI / RAG / Agentic AI

Real project experience with production data architecture supporting RAG, GenAI, or Agentic AI applications is required. Relevant experience may include:

• Documents, OCR, and text extraction
• Metadata and chunking
• Embeddings
• Vector search/retrieval
• Storage and search technologies
• Data governance
• Preparing enterprise data and knowledge for AI consumption

Architecture & Modernization

Experience should include:

• Taking ownership of and modernizing existing/problematic data platforms
• Separating immediate tactical stabilization from long-term target architecture
• Designing scalable, reusable, and metadata-driven ingestion
• Working with unstructured/file-based data
• Assessing technologies such as Azure SQL, Synapse, Databricks, Lakehouse, and ADF based on the actual use case, scale, cost, and architecture
• Producing detailed architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical recommendations that engineering teams can implement
• Improving performance, scalability, maintainability, and data quality
