About the Position

We are seeking a Data Scientist with 5+ years of experience in big data analytics to join our large distributor in Houston, TX. The primary focus of this role is to conduct advanced analytics with big data to provide insights for Executives, Sales, and Marketing teams. The analysis performed by this role will be critical in setting the priorities for the overall strategic and marketing plan for the corporation at a corporate, field, and customer level.

Responsibilities

  • Build predictive analytics models with Python to generate actionable insights at the level of individual customers, such as cross-sell opportunities and churn prediction.
  • Support the development of a personalized customer engagement engine to generate customer insights for various teams, such as field sales, e-commerce, and direct-to-customer communication teams.
  • Work with the technology team to build the customer data-mart, which is the foundation of data-driven and customer-centric marketing initiatives.
  • Identify and derive insights regarding customer behaviors and preferences across various sales and marketing channels to inform the customer data-mart.
  • Support the launch of a customer loyalty program with relevant customer insights to drive the right customer behavior and increase customer loyalty.
  • Support the creation of presentation slides for executives, regarding customer insights across various business units, such as FreshPoint, Meat Co, USBL, Guest Supply.

Requirements

  • MBA or Master's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or other similar advanced degrees from a top-tier educational institution.
  • 5+ years of experience with top-tier firms in big data analytics, market research, management consulting, or a comparable role in a corporate setting.

Skills

  • Computing:
    • Extensive predictive analytics experience with Python.
    • Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., SAS and R).
    • Familiarity with Access and/or database SQL skills.
  • Analytics:
    • Ability to think conceptually, strategically, and creatively with little oversight or direction.
    • Intellectually curious, open to new ideas, hypothesis-driven, and fact-based.
    • Very comfortable working with ambiguity (e.g., imperfect data, loosely defined concepts, ideas, or goals) and translating these into more tangible outputs.
