About the Position

Director of Engineering Services

We are seeking a Director of Engineering Services to lead our engineering team, improve profitability, and enhance customer relationships. The ideal candidate will grow the business, deepen customer and employee relationships, and help the company deliver quality services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and control a highly competent team of engineers, project managers, estimators, and applications engineers to fully meet the objectives of the company.
• Establish personal contacts with key customers and suppliers to ensure the Engineering Services Department meets customer expectations and identify opportunities for improved and/or additional services.
• Develop and oversee methods to identify and evaluate customer requirements and prepare proposals for engineered systems which will best satisfy customer expectations.
• Develop and oversee methods that effectively measure the company’s responsiveness to customer inquiries, requests for time studies, and requests for turnkey proposals.
• Assist sales engineers in presenting, recommending, and attaining purchase orders for machines, turnkey services, tooling, and accessories that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Develop and maintain methods to assure turnkey system projects are completed timely, profitably, and to the customer’s specifications.
• Develop and maintain methods to assure that turnkey job costs are accurately tracked.
• Develop and manage an annual business plan and operating budget for the Turnkey Department, including establishing specific objectives.
• Maintain customer goodwill by the courteous, fair, and honest resolution of customer issues.
• Keep executive management informed of significant changes in products, services, and personnel that could impact the company’s reputation, growth, and/or profits.
• Provide strong leadership to foster a culture that promotes hard work, achievement of individual goals, high performance, and professional development.
• Participate as a key member of the company's management team.
• Work with the rest of the management team to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
• Review reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining company objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
• Plan, develop, and implement policies designed to improve the company’s image and relations with customers, employees, principals, and other suppliers.
• Work with the management team to direct and coordinate promotion of represented products and services, develop new markets, increase market share, improve margin and profitability, and obtain a competitive position in the industry.
• Maintain and enhance communication and development of principal relationships.
• Assure that the company’s culture is one that fosters excellence in all employees.

Requirements

• A four-year engineering degree is preferred but not required.
• Significant and varied knowledge/experience in manufacturing, including significant experience with CNC milling, turning, and grinding applications.
• Proven track record of effectively managing others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Has responsibility for all engineering (turnkey) and applications personnel.
• Directly supervises the Turnkey Manager.
