About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Programmer Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities include developing software programs, testing, and maintaining computer systems. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or mathematics is preferred.

Programmer Analyst Duties

Programmer Analyst duties typically revolve around engineering computer systems and making them meet the employer’s needs. This work usually begins with determining company requirements and ends with building a system that meets these requirements. Sometimes, program analyst job involves preparing cost analyses in order to provide assistance to the management in defining the financial capacity of a system.

Thereafter, programmer analyst duty is to develop software programs that fit the new system and translate them into different computer languages. These specialists are also in charge of testing software as well as creating and using debugging programs when necessary.

In addition, programmer analyst is expected to stay updated with the recent technology tendencies in order to improve existing systems.

Programmer Analyst Responsibilities

Simply put, programmer analysts responsibilities are a blend of system analysis and computer programming. They create and develop computer systems and software. More specifically, their responsibilities include:

• Detect project needs by establishing personal relationships with customers, both actual and potential
• Analyze and arrange these project requirements and needs in programming sequence; prepare workflow charts
• Encode project needs in computer language
• Conduct tests before confirming program robustness; modify program codes if necessary
• Prepare user documentation; maintain a help desk
• Develop and amend programming and computer systems policies and procedures
• Keep abreast with the professional and technical progress: attend workshops; create personal networks; review publications related to the field; take part in professional events
• Maintain equipment: stick to manufacturer’s instructions, call for repairs, examine new equipment
• Maintain confidentiality of the information
• Provide assistance to the team if necessary
• Detect client needs; analyze requirements; develop applications accordingly

Programmer Analyst Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or mathematics is typically the minimum education required for obtaining programmer analyst job. However, proven work experience in the field can substitute the four-year degree.

Also, a top-skilled programmer analyst talent should display a good grasp of software design, debugging, development fundamentals, documentation, testing, requirements, and development process.
