About the Position

JOB TITLE: Proposal Engineer-Machine Tools

DEPARTMENT: Turnkey

SUMMARY: Our company provides innovative CNC machine tool solutions and engineering services to manufacturers in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, and die/mold. We are seeking a skilled Proposal Engineer to develop high-quality time studies, proposals, and innovative engineered solutions for our current and potential customers.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with sales personnel and customers to understand their processes and specifications, and develop the best solution that meets or exceeds their requirements.
• Accurately interpret customer technical specifications and produce compliant technical proposals, offering suitable alternatives where appropriate.
• Obtain a deep and thorough technical knowledge of the company’s represented products to ensure accurate quoting and that the products meet or exceed customer requirements.
• Ensure proposal pricing and estimating are consistent with the company’s established strategies on sales, marketing, billing rates, availability of engineering resources, and proposal business terms and conditions.
• Develop process sheets and assess the cost-effectiveness of engineered solutions and proposals relative to competitors.
• Develop process logic and time study estimates, create accurate pricing estimates, and maintain methods to assure proposals and time studies are completed timely and to each customer’s specifications.
• Assist sales engineers in presenting, recommending, and attaining purchase orders for the company’s products and services.
• Consult with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and proposals.
• Organize, plan, and prepare written materials to support and explain time studies and proposals, and discuss and present such documentation in person with customer personnel.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Significant and varied knowledge/experience in manufacturing, including significant experience with CNC milling, turning, and grinding applications. Minimum of 5 years of proposal experience or project engineering.
• Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong relationships. Superior interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with and be a resource for an existing sales team. Outstanding follow-up and organization skills. Ability to manage concurrent projects/work tasks. Ability to provide a high level of customer service while balancing the business needs and the best interests of the company.
