About the Role

At British American Tobacco (BAT), we are seeking a Regulatory Affairs Manager for our team in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping regulatory strategy and policy initiatives in a rapidly evolving market. Your work will directly influence commercial decisions, and you will be recognized for your contributions within a small, impactful team.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Strategy: Analyze the regulatory and policy environment in Japan and provide insights to senior leaders.
• Policy Recommendations: Develop recommendations that mitigate regulatory risks and open up new business opportunities.
• Communication: Prepare and deliver complex regulatory information to senior leadership in both Japanese and English.
• Project Management: Plan and execute regulatory and policy initiatives, from stakeholder mapping to execution.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with external stakeholders, including industry associations, and ensure alignment across various departments.
• Performance Measurement: Establish and monitor metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of regulatory initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience: 5–10 years in regulatory affairs, public affairs, government affairs, or regulatory strategy.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in Japanese; business-level English proficiency is sufficient.
