Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

Headway is on a mission to revolutionize mental healthcare by building a new system that everyone can access. We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our team in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities

As a Fullstack Software Engineer at Headway, you will have end-to-end ownership of projects, building reliable abstraction layers over a fragmented healthcare system and translating them into seamless, empathetic user experiences. Your work could include:

• The Modern AI-enabled Clinical System: Design and build interfaces and systems that manage clinical data. Integrate AI-powered clinical intelligence to improve provider efficiency.
• Therapist Practice Management: Develop a best-in-class platform for therapists to manage their practices, from database schema to UI.
• Patient-First Experiences: Transform the therapist search experience by building frontend interfaces and backend APIs for personalized care recommendations.
• Frictionless Onboarding: Create a sleek, consumer-grade web experience for insurance credentialing to get providers in-network quickly.

Requirements

• End-to-End Product Builder: Ability to seamlessly switch between backend logic and frontend state management.
• AI Frontier Tinkerer: Experience with applying LLMs to real workflows and pushing the limits of AI tools.
• Owns Outcomes, Not Tasks: Proven ability to turn ambiguous problems into shipped software.
• Sets the Technical Standard: Make technical decisions that optimize for maintainability and scale.
• Mentor by Default: Pull engineers into design discussions and ensure knowledge is shared across the team.
• Ships Fast, Iterates Faster: Ability to move quickly from problem statement to working solution.
• Quick Study in Complex Domains: Ability to dive into unfamiliar domains and build a working mental model fast.

• Compensation: $182,750 - $278,500 base salary plus a competitive equity package.
