Requirements

4+ years of commercial project management experience (5–7 ideal), owning end-to-end delivery for engineering teams - accountable for what shipped and when, without setting product direction.
Experience running multiple teams simultaneously rather than a single squad, and coordinating across them.
Consumer-scale product background - you’ve delivered in a customer-facing product with a large user base, where a bad release reaches a lot of people quickly.
Connected-device or hardware-adjacent experience is a strong plus.
Proven turnaround experience - you’ve taken over a late or troubled project and brought it back under deadline pressure.
You hold people to commitments comfortably and directly. You can push hard on timelines and quality, deliver an unpopular answer to a room of senior people, and keep the relationship afterward.
Strong working understanding of how mobile engineering, QA (manual and automation), and design plan and execute - you can read a delivery risk before it surfaces on its own.
Fluent with project management practice and tooling: sprint planning, backlog and board hygiene, dependency and risk tracking. Jira specifically.
You write clearly. Your status updates, plans, and decision memos hold up for someone who wasn’t in the room.
Comfortable operating as an embedded partner rather than a direct employee of the client.
Upper-Intermediate+ English, confident in live discussion with US-based senior stakeholders.
Health, medical-device, fitness, or regulated-adjacent consumer experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

The cross-vertical project plan. You hold the master view of what every vertical and Hume Care have committed to, and where each actually stands. You build the plans, run the planning and standup rhythm, keep sprints moving, and turn what Producers surface into a coherent, resourced plan.
Definition of done, and the evidence behind it. You own what “done” means and what has to be true before a release ships. Nothing is reported complete before it’s validated - this is the part of the job we care most about.
Launch authority. You decide whether a build ships. If quality, regression coverage, or validated scope isn’t there, you hold the release and say so with reasons - to engineering, to Producers, and to leadership. That call is yours, and it will be backed.
One quality track, not two. Manual and automation QA currently run as separate verticals with separate plans. Bringing them into a single quality strategy - shared definition of done, one regression picture, one release-readiness signal - is an explicit early objective of this role. You won’t do it alone; you’ll work with the QA leads on both sides. But you own that it happens.
Commitment reliability. Sprint carry-over is a number you’re measured on. Commitments should mean something by the time you’ve been in the seat a quarter.
Team accountability. You keep engineers and QA on schedule and to their commitments - tracking closely, following up relentlessly, making slippage visible early rather than at the deadline. You’re comfortable being firm while keeping the working relationship intact.
Crisis and turnaround. When a release is at risk, a critical bug lands, or a vertical falls behind, you take command: triage, re-sequence, pull the right people in, drive the recovery.
Early risk and capacity signals. When committed work exceeds the capacity of the shared pool - engineering, QA, design - you raise it with specificity and lead time, not once it’s a fire.
The delivery interface to leadership. You give the VP of Product, Hume leadership, and StartupSoft a single trustworthy status. You own the answers you deliver, including the difficult ones.

Decision Rights

Clear from day one - you decide the following without seeking approval:

Sprint contents and sequencing within committed scope.
Whether a release ships or is held.
How shared engineering and QA capacity is allocated across verticals week to week.
Freezing new intake into a vertical when its committed work already exceeds capacity.
Cross-vertical tradeoffs and net-new resourcing go to the VP of Product. Anything blocked at that level, or anything affecting the StartupSoft engagement itself, escalates in parallel to your StartupSoft delivery lead.
