About the Role
As a Public-Cloud-Anbieter, we offer a wide range of services on a distributed platform in our data centers in Germany. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work in our international team to improve our IaaS solution, particularly in the OpenStack area. You will solve various complex technical tasks to ensure the stability and performance of our IaaS core components. This includes the integration of various software systems, problem analysis, deep reverse engineering, and the development of tools, as well as collaborating with other teams to increase customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Planning and implementation of IaaS solutions using OpenStack, Linux KVM, and QEMU
- Automation of IT tasks and configuration management with Ansible, and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Packer
- Integration and management of Ceph to support distributed storage solutions
- Development and integration of new features and services in the cloud platform considering Cumulus IP Fabric, Open vSwitch, OVN, BGP, eVPN, and VXLAN
- Setup and management of databases (MariaDB and Galera), messaging systems (RabbitMQ), and service management (ZooKeeper)
Requirements
- Strong system technical skills and a high understanding of Linux internals
- Experience in building and operating highly available applications in cloud environments or on-premises
- Ideally, experience with decentralized storage systems such as Ceph
- Good knowledge of Python and, ideally, further knowledge in system languages such as C or Golang
- General network knowledge, routing and switching, understanding of the most common protocols of the TCP/IP stack
- Fluent English
