About the Position

A Client in the Government sector is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator for a long-term contract supporting the intelligence community.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
- Support virtual and physical infrastructure of servers running CentOS in a dev, test, and production configuration, and support infrastructure of different applications comprising of end user applications, developer tools, and infrastructure support applications.
- Develop and maintain environments running in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Maintain the integrity and security of systems by monitoring security feeds and dashboards in support of Continuous Monitoring activities.
- Develop and maintain standards and procedures for applications across a complex computing infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Monitor application and operating system performance; analyze, document, and remediate incidents.
- Develop and oversee implementation of testing strategies and document the results.
- Leverage scripting and system automation tools.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.
- Research and recommend hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery.
- Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
- Review incidents to understand the root causes and ensure implementation of proper fixes.
- Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and the client to ensure proper integration of applications.
Requirements
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
- Linux Expertise: Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS is essential.
- Virtualization: Proven experience with VMware ESXi infrastructure (6.x or later), including vCenter Server, host clustering with High Availability (HA) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and replication technologies.
- Automation: Demonstrated experience in automated server builds using tools like Ansible or Puppet. This includes creating Ansible playbooks for provisioning, configuration management, patching, and software deployment across virtual and physical instances.
- Cloud Computing: Hands-on experience building, upgrading, and maintaining applications and services within an AWS account.
- Code Management: Proficiency with Git-based version control systems such as GitLab or GitHub for code maintenance.
- Collaboration Tools: Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation.
- Elasticsearch: Experience managing Elasticsearch on CentOS.
- Problem-Solving and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with system administrators, storage administrators, application developers, and network engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and work/military experience will also be considered.
