Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
UX Research (f/m/d)
COMPARUS GmbH is seeking a UX Research professional to join our team in Hamburg, DE. This role is not a traditional research position carried out behind closed doors. It is close to the users, close to the product – and close to the decisions that really matter. You ensure that product development is not based on assumptions, but on robust insights. Your work directly influences what gets built – and what is deliberately left out.
Responsibilities
UX Research & Validation
- Planning, facilitating and conducting qualitative and quantitative research projects
- Conducting interviews, usability tests, A/B tests and surveys
- Using modern methods such as eye-tracking, heatmaps and thinking-aloud
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Analysing user behaviour to identify needs and pain points
- Deriving clear, actionable recommendations
- Preparing results for product teams and management (reports, presentations)
Prototype Testing
- Designing and conducting tests throughout various development phases
- Evaluation of design solutions based on user feedback and best practices
Personas & Customer Journeys
- Development of well-founded user profiles and journeys
- Identification of touchpoints, friction and opportunities for optimisation
Further development of the UX research offering
- Helping to shape and expand our UX Check approach
- Monitoring and integrating new research methods and trends
- Active participation in workshops and product discussions
Requirements
Experience
- Three to five years’ practical experience in UX research, ideally in a consultancy or B2B environment
- In-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods
- Experience with tools such as Hotjar, Figma, Maze or Optimal Workshop
- Proficiency in using analysis tools (e.g. Excel or Python with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy)
Understanding
- Good understanding of UX design and software development processes
- Experience with prototyping and testing throughout the SDLC
Education
- Degree in HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Communication Design, Business Informatics or a comparable subject
- Alternatively: relevant practical experience with a strong portfolio
Working style
- Analytical, structured and, at the same time, pragmatic
- Ability to communicate complex insights clearly
- High level of personal responsibility and customer focus
- Willingness to travel for on-site projects
We Offer
- A high degree of personal responsibility and genuine creative freedom
- Direct influence on products and decisions
- Collaboration in interdisciplinary teams (Product, Design, Tech)
- Flexible working arrangements (remote / hybrid)
- Meaningful projects rather than isolated individual tasks
About the Company
COMPARUS GmbH is a company that works on digital solutions in challenging environments. Good UX doesn’t happen by chance here. It is the result of structured research, clear analysis and consistent translation into product decisions. This is exactly where you come in.
Cultural Fit
Our focus isn’t always constant – but our sense of responsibility is. This role is for you if you:
- want to understand real user problems – not just evaluate interfaces
- want to influence decisions, not just provide input
- enjoy switching between analysis, communication and product work
If, on the other hand, you:
- see research merely as a reporting task
- don’t enjoy working with stakeholders
- prefer to operate in a protected environment rather than within a product context
…then this role is probably not the right one for you.
