Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

Bright Pattern is looking for a Controller to join our Pleasanton, CA office. In this hands-on role, you will oversee and manage the financial reporting and analysis functions within the company. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting, while also providing strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support key decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with the senior leadership and supervise the Accounting team to deliver comprehensive financial insights and maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You will lead a small group of individuals, guiding and supporting them in their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Regularly review all bookkeeping/accounting to ensure consistency with GAAP
  • Oversee the preparation of business activity reporting, financial reports, and statements
  • Develop and implement financial analysis methodologies to assess the company’s performance, financial health, and growth prospects
  • Assist the management with strategic analysis, budgeting, and forecasting while taking lead on assigned projects
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the audit process to facilitate smooth and efficient audits
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and long-term financial plans, aligning them with the company’s strategic objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is preferred for this role
  • 7+ years of accounting experience with at least 4 years being in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and proficiency in financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with a high degree of organization, allowing for prioritization of multiple tasks with a high attention to detail
  • SaaS experience is preferred
