Job description

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Unreal Engine UI Developer to drive the interface engineering of a major cross-platform product.

You are a developer whose primary expertise lies within the Unreal Engine ecosystem. While you are proficient with C++, your focus is on creating polished, responsive, and mobile-first user interfaces (UI) that seamlessly bridge the gap between frontend design and backend data.

Project Description

You will join a talented team of engineers supporting a major client's cross-platform product organization. The project is focused on building, extending, and optimizing UI systems natively within Unreal Engine, with a mobile-first approach. Working alongside EPAM engineers and client stakeholders, you will deliver robust, performant, and scalable UI solutions across PC, mobile, and console platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build and extend responsive native UI systems within Unreal Engine using UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics)
  • Architect UI layouts by maintaining a clean and scalable separation between UI presentation layers and data or backend services through modern architectural patterns
  • Structure and optimize data pipelines to ensure efficient data delivery to the frontend
  • Bridge design and engineering by translating UX and design intent into highly performant and intuitive in-engine interfaces
  • Optimize UI performance across multiple platforms, with a strong focus on mobile (iOS/Android) considerations alongside PC and consoles
  • Drive engineering best practices by participating in constructive code reviews and contributing to the team's technical standards

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional relevant experience in software development, with dedicated focus on game UI development
  • A minimum of one year of experience in people management or team leadership
  • Deep hands-on expertise developing within Unreal Engine, including workflows, packaging, and platform targeting
  • Practical experience building reusable and scalable UI component systems using UMG or equivalent in-engine UI frameworks
  • Proficiency in C++ within the Unreal Engine context, paired with a solid understanding of UI architectural patterns such as MVC or MVVM
  • Proven track record of connecting Unreal Engine frontend UI to backend services or data pipelines
  • Cross-platform development experience spanning PC, mobile, and consoles, with a clear understanding of platform-specific UI constraints and performance budgets
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA for bug tracking and task management
  • English level B2 or higher, with strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • A strong eye for UX, visual polish, and micro-interactions to elevate the overall user experience
  • Experience with Unreal Engine profiling tools and mobile performance budgets for fine-tuning application performance
  • Comfort working in mixed Blueprint and C++ codebases to collaborate effectively across different development approaches
  • Experience navigating console certification requirements to ensure successful platform releases
  • Shipped titles or commercial applications built in Unreal Engine, demonstrating end-to-end delivery capabilities
