About the Position
Bright Pattern is looking for a Sales Manager – Japan to lead our sales efforts to achieve revenue targets while expanding our footprint in the Japanese market. As a Japan-based Sales Manager, you will own the full sales cycle for complex customer-experience (CX) and contact-center opportunities. You will build and execute territory and account plans, develop a qualified pipeline, and close new business and expansion ARR with Japanese enterprises. You will partner closely with our Partners as well as Bright Pattern Solutions Engineers, Customer Success, Professional Services, and Development to deliver measurable pipeline and revenue.
Responsibilities
Pipeline & Territory Execution
- Build and execute a territory plan covering target accounts, partner routes-to-market, and priority verticals.
- Prospect and create new opportunities through outbound, events, partner co-selling, and executive networking.
- Run disciplined opportunity management: qualification, mutual close plans, next steps, and stakeholder mapping.
- Maintain accurate pipeline hygiene and forecasting in CRM; provide weekly/monthly business updates.
Consultative Enterprise Selling
- Lead discovery with business and IT stakeholders to understand the current contact-center environment (legacy ACD/IVR, cloud migration posture, AI requirements, WFM, CRM) and define success metrics.
- Position a modern cloud contact center and AI-enabled CX roadmap (omnichannel, digital messaging, agent assist, analytics, workflow automation) aligned to customer goals.
- Develop executive-ready business cases (TCO/ROI) and guide customers through procurement, security, and legal reviews.
- Lead pricing strategy, negotiation, and deal structuring in alignment with internal approvals and partner agreements.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Solutions Engineering to deliver value-based demos, workshops, and proofs of concept (POCs).
- Coordinate internal virtual teams (SE, Development, PS/Delivery, Customer Success) to advance opportunities and remove blockers.
- Drive high-quality handoff to implementation/customer success to ensure expectations, scope, and success criteria are clearly defined.
Partners & Ecosystem
- Strategically recruit partners in Japan. Build and execute joint plans with channel partners and technology ecosystem partners (CRM, ITSM) to scale pipeline and improve win rates.
- Enable partner sellers and presales teams with positioning, account strategy, and deal support.
- Track competitive landscape and market trends; translate insights into differentiated account strategies.
Success Metrics
- Quota attainment and pipeline coverage.
- Forecast accuracy and opportunity stage discipline.
- Win rate in competitive cycles; average sales cycle and deal size.
- Customer/partner satisfaction with sales engagement and handoff quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years of quota-carrying B2B technology sales experience (SaaS/Cloud preferred).
- Proven success selling into Japanese enterprises with multi-stakeholder deal cycles and C-level engagement.
- Experience selling one or more of: CCaaS/contact center, UCaaS, CRM, WFM, customer-experience analytics, AI automation.
- Strong consultative selling skills: discovery, value articulation, business case creation, and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional virtual teams and to collaborate effectively with Solutions Engineers.
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English (written and spoken).
- Ability to travel within Japan as needed.
