Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join our team for a 6-month project with potential extensions, focusing on Kubernetes operations and architecture.

Location

• Remote: 100% Remote (optional 1–2 days/week near Munich)
• Language: German or English

Start

• Mid-July (latest August/September)

Responsibilities

• Analyze, stabilize, and further develop an existing Kubernetes platform (On-Prem, Ubuntu + k0s)
• Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term platform stability
• Build and optimize platform lifecycle processes (upgrades, scaling, operations)
• Improve cluster scalability and reliability
• Implement Kubernetes security best practices (CIS Benchmarks, RBAC, Audit Logging)
• Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies (Velero, etcd snapshots)
• Enhance GitOps workflows using ArgoCD, Kustomize, and Helm
• Automate operational processes using Python and API integrations
• Support CI/CD initiatives (GitLab Pipelines, SBOM)
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on Kubernetes operations and architecture experience (On-Prem)
• Deep expertise with k0s
• Advanced networking/CNI knowledge, especially Cilium (critical skill)
• Ansible automation experience
• Strong Linux administration background
• Kubernetes lifecycle management experience
