About the Position
PGMTEK is looking for a SQL Server Developer with some DBA Experience for a contract assignment in Owings Mills, MD.
Responsibilities
- Partner with technical team leads to develop a database archive strategy and practice for claims processing solutions.
- Perform performance tuning on the SQL Server RDMS environment to ensure the availability and consistent performance of corporate applications.
- Collaborate with a third-party vendor to develop/refine a SQL Server archive strategy.
- Provide senior-level experience in developing strategies for database performance improvement using monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Partner with DB Administration and Enterprise Operations to analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members.
- Contribute to developing a load testing environment and benchmarking database performance.
- Develop a model for database backups, restores, and recovery.
- Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements as needed.
- Adhere to IT governance standards and procedures; check for compliance.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Development, Systems Analysis, Development, and Support of MS SQL Server 2016/2008 R2/2008 in Production, Test, Replication environments.
- Experience with reporting and audit tools: SSRS/SSIS, Report Builder, and SSDT.
- Expert in problem-solving, analysis, and using SQL Server diagnostic tools to ensure steady-state performance.
- Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory.
- Experience in creating technical documentation, including solution architecture artifacts and ERD artifacts.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Flexible, team player, "get-it-done" personality with an appreciation for meeting commitments.
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with a healthcare payor or in the healthcare industry.
- MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certification.
- Knowledge of commercial and government medical claims processing.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and Medicaid and Medicare programs.
- Some Database Administration skills including:
- Proven experience from multiple engagements performing SQL Server database upgrades/migrations.
- Experience on High Availability solutions, Failover Clusters, and Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, and Mirroring.
- Experienced in monitoring the health and performance of SQL Servers as well as homegrown applications using SQL Server native tools and other third-party solutions.
- Proven experience with maintenance plans, compression, partitioning, replications, and other admin responsibilities.
- Able to benchmark and load test new instance builds for performance with DB load simulators.
